The history and identity of the regiment.

Since 2022

425 Skala began in 2022, during the first months of the full-scale invasion. It originated as a volunteer formation connected to mobile fire groups and developed reconnaissance, support, and assault capabilities, becoming the 425th Separate Assault Regiment.

Operational history

Public milestones and the history provided by the unit include Kharkiv (Харків), Brazhkivka (Бражківка), Izium (Ізюм), Soledar (Соледар), Bakhmut (Бахмут), Avdiivka (Авдіївка), Zaporizhzhia (Запоріжжя), Vuhledar (Вугледар), Niu-York (Нью-Йорк), Shevchenko (Шевченко), and Pokrovsk (Покровськ). This history reflects changes to its structure and preparation in response to combat conditions.

Current phase: operational command of the 1st Azov Corps

In September 2026, the 425 was publicly announced as coming under the operational command of the 1st Azov Corps of Ukraine’s National Guard (Азов). The regiment remains a distinct unit. This phase concerns coordination and operational command. The portal retains the public identity 425 Skala; the Ukrainian announcement uses Скеля.
